Arrived to New Delhi airport yesterday evening and was surprised to see dense smog/fog blocking the view to the city as the plane descended. The last few times I went in and out of Delhi airport the same conditions existed, but it was the d of winter then... This morning's edition of the Times India shed some light on the low visibility in the skies: "south westerly air currents have carried dust from the deserts from North Africa and the Middle East."
Took the metro this morning to a familiar part of Old Delhi. At the Sikh temple I listened to the morning sermon and ate breakfast in the communal kitchen with hundreds of other worshipers. Then walked through the vegetable markets to the Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India. A few photos from this morning below. Enjoy!
