The last (and only) time I explored under the water with a camera was in 1998 on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia on a family trip. From that trip I remember having a sore throat after attempting to scream to my brother (underwater) about all of the cool stuff we saw. I shot an entire roll of film from our underwater disposable camera. Yesterday marks almost 14 years later, but I braved the scare of killing my DLSR and put it under the waters of the Merced River nearby to Midpines, California. The initial scare of destroying the camera never wore off and treading water while trying to shoot images is pretty hard. I think next time I'll bring a Personal Flotation Device. I also got my off-camera flash to work underwater by simply putting it in a tuperware container. This is trial #1, thanks to my OB friends for supplying plenty of subject matter. Cheers!
